McDonald Jones Stadium still supporting local

McDonald Jones Stadium will continue its support of local businesses, with the Local Feature Bar initiative to be serving the freshest beer at Sunday’s Newcastle Knights and Melbourne Storm clash.

Following a successful partnership for Newcastle Jets home games, McDonald Jones Stadium’s Local Feature Bar will stock the freshest Modus Brewing beers for the next three Knights games against the Storm, Broncos and reigning NRL premiers, the Penrith Panthers.

Modus owner Grant Wearin, who opened their Merewether brewery in October , said the company’s looking forward to showcasing its local award winning beers to the community at McDonald Jones Stadium.

“It’s an honour for us at Modus Brewing to be part of the Local Feature Bars initiative. As a brewery proudly brewing in Newcastle, the Modus beers available at the next Knights games don’t get any fresher or tastier. Straight from the tanks in our Merewether brewery, and tinned literally just before game day - we’re excited to launch a brand new beer, aptly named ‘Newy Crisp Lager’, along with the hugely popular ‘Hazy 3.5%’ - both available at the games for all the thirsty local fans.

The Modus Merewether brewery venue is just 10 minutes down the road from McDonald Jones Stadium. As a 100% independent and family owned business, we worked hard at securing a site that everyone in Newcastle could easily access and not only see the brewing process unfold in front of them, but also to sit and enjoy a truly world class hospitality venue featuring 36 beers on tap from Australia’s Champion Craft Brewery , freshly shaken cocktails or an impressive array of local wines alongside an elevated but laid back dining experience within the heart of a world class sustainable brewery. Guided tours will soon become a feature for thirsty beer lovers.”

McDonald Jones Stadium Venue Manager Dean Mantle, added: “We have made a commitment to continue to support local suppliers and we’re delighted to partner with Modus Brewing over the next three Knights home games. We are really proud that we’re serving beer that’s freshly brewed ten minutes from the stadium.”

McDonald Jones Stadium would not be able to undertake its local feature bar initiative without the support from current pourage partner, Lion.

The local feature bar will be showcasing the best products from the region for the remainder of the Knights’ NRL season at McDonald Jones Stadium
